Prayer

Ever present God,
Although we are physically separated at this time, we come together at this point of our journey, as one body, your Church.

We thank you for your Spirit uniting us in love and helping us to worship you wherever we are and however we feel, in spirit and in truth.
Help us to meet and to know Jesus in our midst.

Give us open hearts, minds and eyes, to see your provision, mercy and grace around us and we thank you for Jesus, for all that He has done for us.

Thank you for giving us the internet as a means of being together for now, but one day, let us put it down, turn it off, silence and pause it, see it for what it is so that we can once again look into each others eyes, touch each others hands knowing one day we will once again share in the breaking of bread and drinking once more from the communion cup
and know your profound and real presence in this beautiful and terrifying world.

Until then we up hold each other in our thoughts and prayers. Amen

Jesus is Lord creation's voice proclaims it.

Bible Reading Matthew 15: 29 - 39

29 Jesus left there and went along the Sea of Galilee. Then he went up on a mountainside and sat down. 30 Great crowds came to him, bringing the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute and many others, and laid them at his feet; and he healed them. 31 The people were amazed when they saw the mute speaking, the crippled made well, the lame walking and the blind seeing. And they praised the God of Israel.32 Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I have compassion for these people;they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away hungry, or they may collapse on the way.” 33 His disciples answered, “Where could we get enough bread in this remote place to feed such a crowd?”34 “How many loaves do you have?” Jesus asked.“Seven,” they replied, “and a few small fish.”35 He told the crowd to sit down on the ground. 36 Then he took the seven loaves and the fish, and when he had given thanks, he broke them and gave them to the disciples, and they in turn to the people. 37 They all ate and were satisfied. Afterward the disciples picked up seven basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. 38 The number of those who ate was four thousand men, besides women and children. 39 After Jesus had sent the crowd away, he got into the boat and went to the vicinity of Magadan.

There are diffrences between theses readings as each is taken from different eye witnesses. Or possible hand down stories from one generation to the next.

Bible Reading John 6: 1 – 14

1 Some time after this, Jesus crossed to the far shore of the Sea of Galilee (that is, the Sea of Tiberias), 2 and a great crowd of people followed him because they saw the signs he had performed by healing the sick. 3 Then Jesus went up on a mountainside and sat down with his disciples. 4 The Jewish Passover Festival was near. 5 When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip,“Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?” 6 He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do. 7 Philip answered him, “It would take more than half a year’s wages [two hundred denarii]

to buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!” 8 Another of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, spoke up, 9 “Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?” 10 Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” There was plenty of grass in that place, and they sat down (about five thousand men were there). 11 Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish. 12 When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.” 13 So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten. 14 After the people saw the sign Jesus performed, they began to say, “Surely this is the Prophet who is to come into the world.” 15 Jesus, knowing that they intended to come and make him king by force, withdrew again to a mountain by himself.

and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,

 Mark 8:1-10

8 During those days another large crowd gathered. Since they had nothing to eat, Jesus called his disciples to him and said, 2 “I have compassion for these people; they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat. 3 If I send them home hungry, they will collapse on the way, because some of them have come a long distance.” 4 His disciples answered, “But where in this remote place can anyone get enough bread to feed them?” 5 “How many loaves do you have?” Jesus asked. “Seven,” they replied. 6 He told the crowd to sit down on the ground. When he had taken the seven loaves and given thanks, he broke them and gave them to his disciples to distribute to the people, and they did so. 7 They had a few small fish as well; he gave thanks for them also and told the disciples to distribute them. 8 The people ate and were satisfied. Afterward the disciples picked up seven basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. 9 About four thousand were present. After he had sent them away, 10 he got into the boat with his disciples and went to the region of Dalmanutha.

The unknown witness.

written by S Youdan.

We had been there for two days about 4000 of us stood around, the children sat and played quietly but it was strange I was not irrtated by what was going on around me, all I wanted to do was listen. The teacher’s followers stood and watched us. He told us truths about God, he was not bothered that we were gentiles and we were all moved as we watched the sick being layed out in front of him. He treated everyone of them, he commanded some to be quiet and placed his hands on others, we stood praising God, this man was like noone I had ever met before. Then I noticed my poor sister, a cripple from birth with my two older brothers lay her in front of this great healer then she stood up, tears streaming down her face mine too. I shouted out “that’s my sister”. The crowd let me through, I hugged her then fell at the feet of the man who had healed her. He stood me up looked at me with such love in his eyes and said “do not worship me but the one who has sent me. The one true God.” I thanked him a disciple took us to one side and told us more about the Man Jesus. I never asked him his name but but from that moment I became a follower of the way. One of his followers smiled at me, a broad shouldered man, strong in the arm, he looked like a fisherman. I heard Jesus ask one of his men what food had he got, then I saw him raise a basket of few loaves and some fish. He gave prayer of blessing. This was now the third day. After all the miracles we had seen, noone laughed at the small amount of food, somehow we knew not to, then he told us all to sit down and we did. Then he said “my Disciples will come among you take and eat your fill”

That bread and fish nad never tasted so good we sat and eat . Each one of us in wonder of this man of God, then his disciples collected 7 large baskets of food that was left over we all went away from him praising God and singing and dancing with joy for all the wonders we had seen and the miracles proformed. O What a Man.

Have you ever tried to cater for a few hundred I can tell you it takes two to three days

It’s a miracle when it all comes together. I have at our Church put on a Christmas meal of 5 courses and carols for up to 42 people. The Message of Christmas is for every day. God So loved this world he gave his only son. And that son is our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

For he said, “I Am, the bread of life, he who believes in me will not die but have life in full abundance with me in heaven. “

There are hundreds of volunteers sharing this message of love. As they feed the hungry.

Working with Crisis at Christmas put on meals in lots of areas in the UK. This is in just one city. This is part of their shopping lists

132 turkeys

1, 990 Christmas puddings

7,200 mince tarts

4,700 kg of potatoes = to the body mass of one Indian elephant

9,600 small sausages

6,400 parsnips

3,429 sprouts and 40 jars of cranberry sauce

2000 pints of milk

1000 pints of cream

1000 pints of gravy

1,900 crackers and napkins.

So friends never take your meal for granted but always give thanks to God.

But Bread or food we need to live but we need good wholsome food also for souls

the word of God. But remember the devil is always around the corner lurking and working disguising himself as one of faith. In the Lord’s prayer it says “Give us this day our daily bread” ( For Body and Soul) and lead us not in to temptation But deliver us from Evil. Jesus warned his disiples of this when they were together in a boat for they had forgotten to bring their snap, as we in Sheffield say ( Their bread ) In this narrative we do not know how old the loaf is that is in the boat

Mark 8: 14 - 21

14 The disciples had forgotten to bring bread, except for one loaf they had with them in the boat. 15 “Be careful,” Jesus warned them. “Watch out for the yeast of the Pharisees and that of Herod.”16 They discussed this with one another and said, “It is because we have no bread.”17 Aware of their discussion, Jesus asked them: “Why are you talking about having no bread? Do you still not see or understand? Are your hearts hardened? 18 Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear? And don’t you remember? 19 When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?” “Twelve,” they replied.20 “And when I broke the seven loaves for the four thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?” They aswered "seven"

21 He said to them, “Do you still not understand?”

Do we still not understand? Then think on it this week. Yeast makes the bread rise.
