We pray for those who feel spiritually hungry. for those who feel that there is no Hope no God, may you become real in their lives may our actions make a difference.

We see evil walking our street, and in the news. May we be strong in faith and stand up for the truth be a light in the darkness. Where there is darkness of war we pray for peace.

Where there is darkness of loneliness, may your light of friendship bring comfort

where there is pain in body mind and spirit may your love bring healing.

We pray for all Christians, be with those meeting in secret, we ask that you bless them that through the power of your Holy Spirit they may know we are praying for them.

We pray for those we hold dear, we bring them to you now……..

Father God we sometimes feel tempted to do what is easy and ignore your guidance,

we do or say the wrong things. We know we let you down. Father forgive our sins in your sons name. For yours is the power the kingdom and glory for ever and ever Amen.

Psalm 40: 1 – 5

About our next hymn

According to the editor of The Oxford Edition of the Works of John Wesley, “And Can It Be” was written immediately following Charles Wesley’s conversion to Christianity on May 21, 1738. Wesley had known his Bible well before this time but had not yet experienced affirmation of new birth or the wholeness of grace in his life.

Wesley starts the first stanza (verse) by expressing admiration over the love shown by Jesus dying for him and wonders how we who "pursued" his death are now graced by it.

In the second stanza,(verse) Wesley calls for appreciation of God's love and mercy in this sacrifice.  In the third stanza, (verse)Wesley conveys the unending grace and mercy of Christ’s love and humility in the incarnation, death, and finding of lost sinners.  In the fourth stanza,(verse) Wesley harkens to the "imprisonment" of his own sin and the freedom he found in Christ. Finally, he reviews the results of Christ’s loving and merciful work: there is no condemnation for those made alive in Christ and clothed in his righteousness; rather, there is open access to the throne as we have the right to claim the divine crown.

This next Bible reading inspired Charles Wesley to write our closing hymn

1 Corinthians 3: 7- 17

When Moses talked with God he shone with God’s Glory, when he went back to the people. It was so bright that he put on a veil to stop the people from running away and to stay and hear the ten commandments, the law or rules that they must live by.

In Christ we have a new covenant a new promise, new rule John 13: 34-35

34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

Jesus’s love is all divine all excelling.

Christ was sent by God from heavenly joy and glory, to earth He Came to save to show his earthy glory at His resurrection.

He change from glory into glory that through him we have eternal life
